Championing the bold work of LGBTQI activists and organizers advancing rights and visibility in West Africa through creative expressions
The Asanka Fund
Launched in 2021 by Initiative Sankofa d’Afrique de l’Ouest (ISDAO), the Asanka fund empowers LGBTQI activists and organizers to contribute to advocacy and movement-building through innovative and creative expressions.
To date, ISDAO has awarded 48 Asanka grants, supporting 13 projects during its first cycle and 18 more during its second and third cycles. During the fourth cycle, 17 projects received funding.
This microsite serves as a dedicated collection of projects supported by the Asanka fund, spotlighting the creativity and diversity of LGBTQI activists across West Africa. We hope these works inspire and empower others, serving as both a source of inspiration and a tool for advocacy within LGBTQI movements in West Africa and beyond.
